Afternoon at Boulder Beach

Yesterday, Geo and I were at Boulder Beach State Park in Groton, Vermont.  It’s a very scenic drive, just to get there. We drove on a road through the forest to get to the park.

The lake – Groton Lake, sometimes called Groton Pond – is located in the Groton State Forest. Yes, there are lots of boulders there, and a sandy beach.

The weather was warm, the lake was calm, and the canoes and kayaks were available.

Out on the lake, we spotted some loons.  They came quite close to our canoes, and one was calling out to the other.

Closer to the shore were a lot of ducks.

I'm so grateful to be living in Vermont surrounded by so much beauty during every season, with parks nearby for relaxing and recreation.

Canoeing with Geo was fun. Next I'm looking forward to a late summer hike with Addie.

Please check out my new posts here: Resolutions. Thank you!

Lucy - Dog of the Week

In our small town, registered dogs have their week of fame on the webpage of the Town Clerk Office. This week the featured dog is LUCY.

Lucy came to us in 2000 as a rescued dog from Pennsylvania. She is the gentlest of dogs and is a blessing for us in so many ways.

Our youngest daughter couldn’t believe we were actually getting a dog. “But we’re not a dog family!” she said. Well, Lucy – our Beagle-Shepherd - has transformed us into becoming a forever “dog family.”

She takes us on walks in every season.

She does NOT like water! One very hot day in Waitsfield, Vermont, we did coax her into the river.

Lucy is definitely NOT a city-dog; She much prefers the solitude of nature to the excitement of crowds.

Lucy has had her challenges Sadly, an accident on a bitterly cold and very windy day caused her to lose an eye. She healed well from her operation.

Another time, Lucy became mysteriously very sick. By then she was a senior dog, and we thought we were losing her.

The veterinarian gave her some high- powered antibiotics for 3 weeks. Lucy, the trooper she is, pulled through.

One of her joys is going on car rides. She loves coming with us when we travel and is quite adventurous exploring new places.

Lucy makes friends wherever she goes.

We look forward to many more adventures with Lucy.

Congratulations, Lucy, Dog of the Week!
