Cranberry Orange Pecan Bread

It's a dreary, cold, gray Saturday ~ a good day for freshly baked bread.

I dusted off the breadmaker, pulled out a new recipe, and checked for ingredients. I had everything needed.

A few hours later, here's the result:

Cranberry Orange Pecan Bread

Pour 3/4 cup water, 1/2 cup orange juice, and 1 egg into the bread machine.

Add 4 1/2 cups bread flour, 2 Tablespoons nonfat dry milk, 1/4 cup sugar, 3/4 teaspoon salt, 3 tablespoons butter and 1 1/2 teaspoons rapid-rise dry yeast.

Start the machine on the basic setting, medium crust.

After the first kneading, add 1 tablespoon orange zest, 1/2 cup craisins (dried cranberries), and 3 tablespoons chopped pecans.

The aroma as it's baking is amazing, take my word for it. We enjoyed the finished product with butter and a sprinkle of cinnamon.

This first-time attempted recipe is a keeper! (I won't need another gray day to make this again.)

SNOW VILLAGE

One of our Christmas traditions is displaying our Snow Village. This collection started out with one broken, drastically reduced item. Over the years we've added new pieces, usually as birthday gifts for Geo. One of our daughters even picked one up at a garage sale!

Here's the display in our dining room this year:

Two of my favorites, the theater and a church:

This year I came upon a puzzle of the Snow Village. We took up the challenge and completed the puzzle ~ all 1,000 pieces!

Now it's time to pack it away, until next year.
